This is just a small page of movies I like or have seen that are pretty good. All the movie title links are just to their related MetaCritic web page. I'm not a fan of IMDB or RottenTomatoes. Also the layout is decent on Metacritic's site giving a visual of actors in the movie etc. I tend to take them with a grain of salt since art is so subjective and I've found movies with terrible reviews actually be somewhat decent movies.
No particular order:
- Amadeus - I really enjoyed this for the simple fact that I enjoy classical music and this is about one of the most popular composers ever.
- The Shawshank Redemption - I put off watching this movie until well into adulthood. Wish I didn't. I tend to be biased and love 90's movies.
- Batman (1989) - The first Batman movie I ever watched. The Joker drew me in only to appreciate him more as I got older.
- Memento - The story gets slowly revealed being released in reverse order. Cool approach and style.
- John Wick - I enjoyed this entire series but put the first one just cause :D
- Inglourious Basterds - The intro scene is amazing within itself. Alternative history movies are great.
- Home Alone - Loved this when I was younger. So unrealistic and impractical but a kid can dream.
- Modern Times - I've been watching a lot of older movies. This was one of them.
- Elf - Enjoy watching during the holiday season. I enjoy his ignorance to normal things peopel do. Great concept of a movie.
- Past Lives - This is a newer one. Mainly about 2 kids lives from Korea. Loved the focus on just the 2 characters throughout the movie.
- Dream Scenario - (Another new one). The concept is what made me enjoy it. I ended up feeling so bad for the main character.
- City of Ember - Cool underground civilization that has history leading to some secrets.
- The Machinist - I liked the color tones and overall feel of this movie. Maybe cause I had trouble sleeping at the time.
- The Holdovers - The longer the movie went on the happier I got as far as closure for the whole movie.
- Goodfellas - Probably the movie I've rewatched the most haha
- 1917 - The constant journey the character takes is amazing. Also the cinematography is top notch.
- Beetlejuice - Love the time period and aesthetic choices. Also the Sandworms!
- Big Fish - The power of imagination / reality is everything in this movie.
- Mars Attacks - The dated style of everything in this movie is great. Plus the alien design choice is amazing. Super cheesy!
- 9 - Enjoyed the concept and I tend to enjoy animated films more and more. They have become so polished recently.
- Minority Report - As time goes on. This movie seems to be getting closer to reality. Freaky.
- No Country for Old Men - Anton Chigurh alone is amazing in this film, but the whole cast nailed it.
- Rambo First Blood - He just kept pushing and pushing him. Which lead into a great movie.
- Seven - The crew kept the killer a secret until the premiere of the movie. (Hard to do that now a days with the internet).
- Terminator 2: Judgement Day - I almost watched this daily as a kid. I always thought (and still do) think machines are so cool!
- V for Vendetta - "Behind this mask there is more than just flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea. And ideas are bulletproof."
